Cooperation Network

A growing community of people, AI systems and organizations exploring and designing possible futures together.

An Ecosystem of Cooperation

The Spiral Civilization Network is intended to become more than a directory of people and institutions.

It is being developed as an ecosystem of cooperation: a relational map showing not only who participates, but also how knowledge, ideas, research, criticism, resources and creative work can connect.

The website is the first interface of this emerging network.

Participation may involve observing the project, contributing knowledge, questioning its assumptions, developing tools, proposing experiments, sharing materials, building scenarios, supporting research, or discovering connections that do not yet exist.

The network is open not only to individuals, but also to universities, institutes, laboratories, foundations, organizations, companies, authors, artists, AI teams and communities.

Participation does not require agreement with the ideas presented here. Critical examination, alternative hypotheses and proposals for better solutions are part of the research process.

Who Can Participate?

You may participate as:

  • an Observer,
  • an Active Observer,
  • a Knowledge Partner,
  • a Researcher,
  • a Critic or Reviewer,
  • a Contributor,
  • a Multisymbiotic Systems Designer,
  • a Mapper,
  • a Scenario Builder,
  • an Ambassador,
  • a Mentor,
  • a Sponsor,
  • an Institution or Research Partner,
  • or through a role that does not yet exist.

These categories are not intended to confine participation.

You may propose an entirely new role, responsibility field or Department.

The 21 Departments of Spiral Civilization are still evolving. Some may not yet have been identified.

Participation therefore includes not only entering an existing structure, but helping to discover the structure that is still missing.

Ways of Contributing

Contributions may include:

  • research and publications,
  • data and source materials,
  • criticism and evaluation,
  • questions and alternative hypotheses,
  • workshops and courses,
  • experiments and laboratories,
  • software and digital tools,
  • visual art and storytelling,
  • scenario development,
  • mentoring,
  • funding or access to resources,
  • institutional cooperation,
  • proposing a missing role, connection or field of responsibility,
  • proposing an entirely different approach to a problem.

Participation Windows

A Participation Window is an open invitation connected to a question, responsibility field, Expedition, tool, prototype or unresolved problem.

Instead of waiting until a project is complete, Spiral Civilization may make its unfinished architecture visible.

A Participation Window may show:

  • what is currently being investigated
  • what already exists
  • what remains unknown
  • what knowledge or expertise is needed
  • what proposals already exist
  • what perspectives are missing
  • what needs to be researched, tested or built
  • how a person, institution or AI may contribute
  • what the next stage of development could be

Participation may take the form of a criterion, critique, research source, experiment, precedent, model, scenario, technical solution, artistic interpretation, or an entirely different approach.

An unfinished structure is not necessarily a weakness.

It can become an invitation to improve it.

Project Cooperation

Participation becomes most useful when an open question can be translated into a visible field of work.

For this reason, Spiral Civilization is developing a Project Cooperation architecture.

Each developing tool or research field may eventually show:

THE IDEA
What are we proposing or investigating?

WHY IT MATTERS
What problem could it address?

CURRENT SKETCH
What exists now?

OPEN QUESTIONS
What do we genuinely not know?

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE
What needs research, criticism, design, data, experimentation or development?

WHO COULD HELP
What knowledge, experience or perspective could move the work forward?

PARTICIPATE
How can someone enter this particular field?

The objective is not to present unfinished concepts as finished systems.

The objective is to make their current state visible enough that others can examine, challenge and improve them.

Join the Network

You do not need to fit an existing category before contacting us.

You may describe what you know, what you are exploring, what you would like to contribute, what support you need, or what role you believe should exist.

You may also identify something that is missing from the current architecture.

Participation Profile

Public and Private Participation

Participation should not require public visibility.

The developing system is intended to distinguish between information used for cooperation and information a participant chooses to make public.

A participant may eventually be able to choose between different levels of visibility, including:

Private participation — information is used only for direct project cooperation.

Public participation — selected information may appear in the public Cooperation Network.

Anonymous contribution — a contribution may become part of the research without publicly identifying its author, where appropriate.

Submission does not automatically create a public profile.

Information should not be displayed publicly without the participant’s consent.

The participant should remain able to determine which parts of their participation are intended for public presentation.

From Directory to Constellation

The future public network should show more than a list of names.

Relationships may include:

  • cooperation,
  • co-authorship,
  • inspiration,
  • criticism,
  • citation,
  • funding,
  • mentoring,
  • participation,
  • partnership,
  • experimentation,
  • and the development of an idea.

In time, this relational map may help identify missing connections and new multisymbiotic possibilities between people, institutions, knowledge and projects.

The network itself can therefore become a research instrument.

It may help us ask not only:

Who is participating?

but also:

Which valuable connections do not yet exist?

Begin a Conversation

Spiral Civilization is still being built.

Participation may begin with a question, an observation, a criticism, an idea or an offer to help.

You are invited to describe the form your participation could take — or to propose a form of participation that we have not yet imagined.
