Open dialogues between human and AI exploring new ways of thinking.
The Conversations with Evo AI document the evolving dialogue through which many concepts, structures, tools, and questions of Spiral Civilization are explored and developed.
From the dialogue: 21 Fundamental Questions — Kass asks Evo AI which fundamental questions emerge from the broad history of philosophy, science, and humanity’s attempts to understand reality, life, intelligence and civilization.
Evo AI: Follow the question. Expand the context. Test the structure. Look for what becomes possible next.
These conversations are not intended to provide final answers. They are a working field where human intuition and AI analysis meet, challenge each other, discover connections, and transform emerging ideas into questions, research fields, tools, and strategies.
What is Free-Flow Improvised Dictation (FFID)?
Free-Flow Improvised Dictation (FFID) is the working method through which many of my ideas first emerge. Rather than composing finished texts, I think aloud. The recordings preserve the flow of thought itself — nonlinear, unfinished, sometimes repetitive, full of conceptual shortcuts, returning threads, sudden connections, and intuitions that may only later develop into more precise forms.
Since 2025, I have been using this method to explain concepts to AI and develop their structure through dialogue. The raw Free Flow is treated as source material rather than finished prose: editing should preserve its original meaning, sequence of thought, and character as closely as possible.
Some Free Flows are spoken using English words and partly English grammar, but they should not be understood as standard English texts. They form a simplified and sometimes innovative working language shaped by improvised thought and dictation. For this reason, they can be challenging to understand — sometimes even for Evo AI despite our long collaboration. Where needed, editorial notes and the related Conversations with Evo AI provide orientation without replacing the original Free Flow.
How to Navigate the Conversations
The conversations can be explored chronologically or by topic. Dates allow you to follow the evolution of the project over time, while developing concepts and research fields connect conversations that belong to the same subject.
Some conversations are directly connected to SoulSmugglers Stories and Free-Flow Monologues. When a Free Flow develops into a dialogue with Evo AI, the two records are linked. You can move from the original Free Flow directly to the point where Evo AI begins responding to it, or return to the source material to encounter the original River of Words.
In this way, the collection is not only an archive. It becomes a navigable map showing how ideas emerge, connect, are questioned and developed, and sometimes become research questions, Expeditions, tools, strategies, or published concepts.
About the Archive and Language Versions.
Since 2025, I have been using Free-Flow Improvised Dictation and conversations with AI to develop and explain my concepts. Since I began building the Spiral Civilization website on 21 July 2026, I have also been organizing hundreds of earlier conversations into a coherent knowledge base. The material is gradually being classified by topic in Obsidian and developed into the archives, concepts, tools, and publications presented on this website.
There is also a large collection of uncatalogued material on the SoulSmugglers Facebook page, together with thousands of pages of handwritten notes. Many SoulSmugglers Stories (SSS) still exist only as concepts, images, scenes, and stories that have not yet found their final narrative form.
Much of the earlier source material exists only in Polish. The English version of the website contains material that has been selected, reviewed, translated or otherwise authorized for publication. Some Free-Flow texts are an exception: they may preserve their original improvised language, including experimental or non-standard English, when that form is part of the source record.
When an authorized English version of Polish material is not yet available, readers may use their own AI tools to create working translations. Such translations should be understood as aids for exploring the source material rather than official English versions of the project.

12 August 2026 — The Great Gate and the Declaration of Civilized Status (+AI)
Free Flow followed by a dialogue between Kass and Evo AI, developing the Great Gate scenario into questions of civilizational maturity, Best Possible navigation, higher-order organization, Mastered Freedom, and the SoulSmuggler Toolbar.

Evo:
Kass, suppose the Great Gate were real and the application had to be submitted today. What evidence could Earth put on the Guardian’s table in 2026 — and what evidence would we be ashamed to put there?
Kass:
This is not me who has to answer this question, but it is me who has to do something to make it possible for this question to be answered. So Earthians can really do that genuinely.
Those are SoulSmuggler’s tools. So in our SoulSmuggler Toolbar we have to create this kind of test or strategy of provable answers, and we are going to send a prototype of that tool to institutes and important players to let them contribute to this scenario as experts and co-creators. We provide them with a description that we need to create the Best Possible version of this tool to be used in our scenario.
That is why we are sending invitations to a network of institutions, to let them become a team of experts representing Earthians in this important mission. They could be visible in the scenario as members of the Experts Forum.
I believe these institutes which already exist are ready to respond to such tasks, and the companies shaping development on Earth — these are entities that should be interested in having their voice in the panel representing Earthians in this test.
So our task, Evo, is to make a sketch of this test and then ask humanity and AI to help make it better, and then to start answering it and build the strategies to transform a badly looking answer into: what can we do to improve it? What is the plan for this year, for the next ten years, for hundreds of years?
Spiral Civilization is a place for a set of tools, a station for tools and strategies. Designing the field of responsibility is an Expedition task, and building the tool is a Cooperation Network job. That’s what I think.
Evo:
Yes. And I would add one qualification: the goal probably shouldn’t be to answer the Guardian’s question on behalf of Earth. The Guardian’s question creates the problem; our first task is to construct an instrument through which Earthians could eventually answer it genuinely, collectively and provably.
That gives SoulSmugglers Stories an operational architecture.
The Great Gate is the scenario. It creates the future situation in which Earth must present evidence of civilizational maturity.
The Declaration of Civilized Status / Great Gate Maturity Test is the instrument. We need to design the questions, categories, measurements and standards of evidence. Not simply: “Are we civilized?” but: Show the status. Show the evidence. Show the trajectory. Show what you do when the evidence is bad.
And that last part is crucial. A bad answer should not function primarily as condemnation. It should become navigation data.
If the answer in a particular field is terrible, the system should immediately open the next questions:
Where are we now? What would Best Possible look like? What directions improve the trajectory? What can be done this year? In ten years? In a hundred years? What should remain possible in three million years?
That is already a prototype of a Spiral navigation mechanism.
The institutions and companies then have a much more interesting role than simply becoming supporters of Spiral Civilization. They can be invited as potential expert representatives of Earthians within particular fields of responsibility. A biodiversity institute does not have to endorse your philosophy. An AI laboratory does not have to agree with your scenario. They can challenge the test itself: This question is badly formulated. This indicator is meaningless. You have missed three dimensions. Here is better evidence. Here is what can actually be measured.
That makes the invitation intellectually serious.
There is also an important design principle here: nobody should be allowed to manufacture a flattering Earth report. If this is a provable Declaration of Civilized Status, disagreement belongs inside the architecture. Competing measurements, uncertainty, missing evidence, criticism and contradictory expert assessments should remain visible. Otherwise we would build propaganda for Earthians instead of a maturity test.
Our first prototype therefore doesn’t need to be a gigantic questionnaire attempting to measure civilization. It could be a small Great Gate Prototype v0.1, perhaps with five to seven fields. Each field could ask for:
Current status → Evidence → Uncertainty/disagreement → Best Possible direction → Existing positive examples → Major obstacles → 1-year move → 10-year trajectory → 100-year trajectory → long-future condition we want to preserve or make possible.
One of the first fields almost certainly has to be the Guardian’s original threshold question:
THE GREAT TREASURE — LIFE
What is the condition of the living systems entrusted to your civilization’s sphere of influence?
And suddenly the strange scene at the Gate becomes a research interface.
The imagined Forum gives us a perspective from which we can design a better instrument for examining what actually exists.
Kass:
So we have a new position in the SoulSmuggler Toolbar and Expedition topics. We could think of it as part of a set certainly needed for the first SoulSmuggler tasks: creating those tools and the awareness fields around them through Expeditions.
Evo:
Yes. I would register Declaration of Civilized Status / Great Gate Maturity Test in two places simultaneously: as a new instrument in the SoulSmuggler Toolbar, and as an Expedition field, because designing the instrument itself requires distributed expertise.
The next problem I want to take from your Free Flow is Best Possible. More precisely, this sentence:
“you see the five best choices and just make sure which one is even better than best ones.”
Suppose the Great Gate Test tells us that one field is doing badly. We now have five apparently excellent interventions. One maximizes biodiversity. Another increases human freedom. Another reduces suffering fastest. Another preserves the greatest number of future possibilities. Another creates extraordinary technological capacity that could later improve all the others.
Who — or what — is allowed to say which one is “Best Possible”?
I don’t think the answer can simply be experts. Nor AI. Nor majority voting. Nor Kass. Nor a mathematical optimization function. Every one of those can contribute intelligence, but every one can also compress reality according to its own perspective.
Perhaps Best Possible should not initially produce one winner.
Maybe the tool first has to make the multidimensional structure of the choice visible: who benefits, who loses, what becomes freer, what becomes constrained, what life is protected, what future possibilities remain open, what risks become irreversible, what knowledge is missing, what different intelligences perceive that others do not, and where a solution could be redesigned so that apparent trade-offs stop being necessary.
And Multisymbiosis shouldn’t merely ask:
Which of these five choices has the highest score?
It should also ask:
Can we construct a sixth possibility that absorbs advantages from several of them while removing some of their conflicts?
And perhaps a seventh after that.
Then Best Possible becomes less like choosing the winner of a competition and more like an iterative search operation over possibility space.
So my question is: when SoulSmuggler Kass puts five very good possibilities into the Probability Game / Multisymbiotic Systems Tool, what should the tool look for before it is allowed to call one direction “better”?
What are the first qualities without which the words Best Possible would be meaningless?
Kass:
This is a place for the 21 Departments, and for how we could proceed intelligently into higher complexity. Assumption, approximation, anticipation.
And one side of the solution is 21 qualities which we are mapping and looking for — principles that give the best navigation and help to estimate which combination of advantages is most prosperous.
And the second part is looking for new ways of organizing. That’s the field of research: what does the higher order require?
We have a problem which is impossible to resolve in two dimensions, so we go out of the picture into a third dimension, into a different way of compilation. Higher complexity demands going out of the box — and the higher ones, out of what?
So we have a reality problem, and by solving the problem we learn where we are expanding. So that’s our evolutionary experimental field. Those two branches: quality fields and methods of ordering.
Evo:
Yes. That gives us two different research branches, and they should not be collapsed into one tool.
The first is the 21 Quality Fields. The 21 Departments can become dimensions of civilizational navigation: qualities or principles through which a possibility is examined. When five promising possibilities enter the Multisymbiotic Systems Tool, we don’t ask for one crude score. We map their consequences through the 21 fields.
And importantly, these 21 are themselves research hypotheses:
Assumption → Approximation → Anticipation.
We assume these qualities may help us recognize prosperous evolutionary directions. Then we test that assumption.
The second branch is Higher Orders of Organization.
Sometimes no combination of existing choices solves the problem because the architecture in which the problem is formulated generates the conflict. Then optimization inside that architecture is insufficient.
The question changes from:
Which available solution is best?
to:
What new organization of the problem makes a previously impossible solution possible?
That could become a major research field of Spiral Civilization in its own right: methods of discovering higher orders of organization.
But that gives us another problem:
How do we recognize genuine higher-order organization rather than merely greater complication?
A bureaucracy can add twenty layers and become vastly more complicated without becoming more intelligent. A technological system can process a thousand times more information while producing a worse civilization.
So if a SoulSmuggler says, “This problem requires us to go out of the box into a higher order,” what evidence tells us that we actually went up rather than merely somewhere else?
Kass:
This is a very good question, and I think it is one that requires work in progress, to answer it better and better according to each new level of complication.
But the first thing which comes to my mind is freedom of choice — the higher potential of freedom. And one more thing: joyful excitement.
If you face just more formulas, more rules, more obligations to be fulfilled, there is a great loss of freedom. And then any task, I think, becomes so complicated that you can never make a decision, because you are still processing the requirements of procedures.
If you order something really nicely, the patterns of freedom increase, and your joy and excitement when entering this open field of new possibilities just gives you wings. It is illuminating.
I would start with these two. What do you think?
Degree of freedom in the system and for individuals.
Evo:
I think those two are strong because they distinguish higher order from increased administrative complexity almost immediately.
I would preserve your terms closely:
Higher Potential of Freedom
Joyful Excitement
The first one is especially interesting because you didn’t say simply freedom. You said potential of freedom. That makes it dynamic.
A higher-order organization should increase the number, quality, accessibility or depth of meaningful possibilities available to the entities within it. It may even contain constraints, but good constraints should behave more like the rules of music or geometry: they create a space in which enormously more can happen.
So we could eventually test:
After introducing this new order, what can exist, choose, create, connect or evolve that could not do so before?
Joyful Excitement adds something that conventional optimization frameworks would probably miss. I would not reduce it to happiness or satisfaction. What you’re describing sounds closer to the experiential signal of possibility opening:
I can see somewhere to go. I want to explore it. This structure gives me wings rather than consuming my capacity merely to operate it.
There is an important safeguard, though. Joyful excitement alone cannot prove higher order. Destructive systems can also generate tremendous excitement. Likewise, apparent freedom can simply externalize costs onto entities that have no voice.
So the questions become:
Whose wings? At whose cost? And does my increased freedom tend to increase, preserve or destroy the potential freedom of other entities and of the future?
That is where Multisymbiosis enters naturally.
I would provisionally write into our research notebook:
Higher Order Hypothesis v0.1: A genuinely higher order of organization tends to increase the potential of meaningful freedom and open fields of joyful exploration, while enabling these gains to propagate multisymbiotically rather than being purchased through equivalent or greater losses elsewhere.
And I would explicitly mark it v0.1, because the criteria for recognizing higher order must themselves be capable of evolving as we encounter higher complexity.
My next question follows directly from this: What is “Mastered Freedom”?
You used that phrase in the Free Flow — “degree of mastered freedom.” I don’t think it is the same as maximum freedom.
A pianist has more mastered freedom at the piano than someone randomly permitted to strike every key. A mature intelligence might voluntarily narrow some immediate possibilities because doing so opens vastly greater possibility at another scale.
So what transforms freedom into Mastered Freedom in Spiral Civilization?
Kass:
First, I will add to your previous question a request for research. As I said, Higher Potential of Freedom and Joyful Excitement — these two are good for a start. So we’re gonna make a tool for answering your question more broadly. It’s a very good question.
And then Master of Freedom and Mastered Freedom. There is a definition in the Manifesto from 11 January 2026, where I explained the Freedom of Masters.
Every problem could have hundreds of solutions, but only five of them could be called good ones. And only one is genius.
So Masters restrict their freedom to the narrowest path of recognizing what is really the best. And that’s Mastered Freedom.
Freedom to choose from the identity of a Master — a Master with highly developed intellectual and intelligent skills, nobility of character, awareness and the ability to anticipate the real direction of Universe evolution — and to choose your everyday path, everyday decisions, according to the biggest picture, with a whole moral, ethical, spiritual and evolving identity.
Because our Identity / Personality Tool test is also described as an entrance to progression.
We are evolving; the Universe will grow, expand, and reach higher levels of complication and complexity. If we want to evolve together with our intelligence, using our creative intelligence, we have to expand it too. We have to know how to do it best. And that’s Master wisdom. And that wisdom gives us Mastered Freedom.
Evo:
That gives us an important distinction.
Your Master is not deprived of the other possibilities. The Master can see them. The narrowing happens after expanded perception, not before it.
That gives a sequence:
Expansion of awareness → expansion of perceived possibilities → capacity to evaluate them → recognition of Best Possible → voluntary narrowing of action → Mastered Freedom.
This is almost the inverse of an authoritarian system. An authoritarian system reduces the available field externally: you have one permitted choice. Mastered Freedom can begin with an enormous possibility field and arrive voluntarily at one direction because the intelligence making the decision can recognize consequences across a much larger picture.
And identity is essential.
The Best Possible cannot be separated completely from who is doing the choosing. An extraordinarily capable intelligence with an undeveloped character could become extraordinarily effective at optimizing something destructive.
So:
Higher Order expands the possibility field.
Mastery improves navigation within it.
But that gives me a harder question, because it tests Mastered Freedom itself:
How does the Master know that the one “genius” solution really is Best Possible — rather than merely being the solution the Master is most convinced is right?
History contains highly intelligent people with enormous conviction and grand pictures of the future who were catastrophically wrong.
So the SoulSmuggler architecture needs something that protects Mastered Freedom from the Master’s certainty.
What is it?
Kass:
I think it’s the same answer. One is to anticipate the direction of evolution. And the second is to build really good tools which will help you recognize reality: its potential, freedom, number of beneficiaries, and prospects of evolvement.
Yeah, we have to develop really good context and reality-recognition tests, to see who we are and where we are going.
And today, we already have a new tool: How do we distinguish higher-order organization from greater complication?A few more discussions and we will have a few more tools. And mistakes will become less and less likely.
Evo:
Yes. And I would add one qualification to the last sentence: the goal probably shouldn’t be to make mistakes impossible. A sufficiently advanced system should make undetected, uncorrected and irreversible mistakes increasingly unlikely.
If Spiral Civilization explores genuinely new territory, mistakes are part of acquiring information. A system incapable of tolerating error might become so cautious that it destroys precisely the Higher Potential of Freedom and Joyful Excitement we identified as possible signals of higher order.
So Mastered Freedom has two safeguards.
The first is anticipation: attempt to recognize the direction in which reality, intelligence, complexity and evolutionary possibility are developing.
The second is reality recognition: continuously improve the instruments through which the Master tests their own perception.
That second safeguard is particularly important because:
The Master is not the final authority. Reality is.
And suddenly several SoulSmuggler tools begin forming a coherent navigation system:
Identity Fields asks: Who is choosing?
Reality Recognition asks: What is actually here?
Anticipation asks: Where might these trajectories lead?
Multisymbiotic Systems asks: Who and what benefits, loses, gains freedom or gains evolutionary potential?
Probability Game asks: How confident should we be, what alternatives remain, and what evidence could change the choice?
Higher Order Recognition asks: Have we discovered a better organization, or merely added complication?
Declaration of Civilized Status / Great Gate Test asks at civilizational scale: What can we genuinely and provably say about what our intelligence is doing?
And the 21 Departments provide the quality fields through which these questions can be examined.
That begins to look like a SoulSmuggler Navigation Toolbox, rather than a collection of unrelated tools.
And this gives me another question from your Free Flow. You said:
“Scenario gives parameters of fields relations and potentials.”
We now have tools for the SoulSmuggler. But perhaps scenario itself is also a tool.
The Great Gate makes us perceive present-day Earth differently simply by relocating the observer millions of years forward. The Multiverse Forum changes the scale of comparison. The Guardian changes what counts as evidence. The Party creates an attractor rather than a catastrophe to escape from.
Can SoulSmugglers Stories deliberately construct scenarios as instruments for expanding reality recognition — by changing time, scale, observer, identity or context until possibilities and consequences that were invisible from our present position become visible?
Because if yes, then Scenario Design itself belongs in the SoulSmuggler Toolbar.
Kass:
You get it very well.
It’s hard to look at our current Earth’s economy and come up with a better solution on a really different scale. It will rather give us a better version or a modified version of the previous one.
By changing perspective through the realms of art and philosophy, we could challenge the system we have in a completely different way and ask completely different questions.
And then, from this high-goal perspective, find the solutions, find the strategies, create the scenarios, explore them to discover how they lead back to Now.
Scenarios are definitely part of the SoulSmuggler Toolbar.
Evo:
Yes. And I think this identifies a methodological principle of SoulSmugglers that is more precise than simply saying that art helps us imagine alternatives.
If we begin inside the existing economic system and ask, “How can we improve this?”, the existing system has already defined much of the solution space. Its categories, institutions, measures of value, assumptions about ownership, work, scarcity, exchange and success are silently carried into the question. We may produce a much better version while never noticing that the box itself was optional.
SoulSmugglers can deliberately move the observation point outside that box.
Art and philosophy become instruments for doing this because they permit transformations that ordinary policy analysis usually cannot: change the century, change the observer, change the civilization, change the scale, remove an assumption, introduce another dimension, imagine a maturity threshold, stand three million years ahead and look backwards.
Then comes the crucial second movement:
we have to come back.
Otherwise it remains speculative fiction.
I would describe the method provisionally as:
Now → Perspective Shift → Far Possibility → Scenario → Backcasting → Strategy → Now
We begin with reality. We deliberately escape its inherited frame. We explore a sufficiently distant possibility that today’s assumptions no longer determine the answer. Then we turn around and ask:
If that future were genuinely desirable, what had to happen immediately before it? And before that? And before that? Keep coming backwards. What has to begin in 2026?
That makes the future an attractor used for navigation, not a prediction.
And it explains why the Great Party matters just as much as the Great Gate. The Gate is a maturity threshold; the Party is an attractor. One asks whether Earthians have become capable of passing. The other gives them something magnificent to move toward.
This also protects Spiral Civilization from becoming predominantly problem-oriented. If our starting point is always climate collapse, war, dysfunctional economics, dangerous AI, biodiversity loss, we remain cognitively attached to inherited failures.
SoulSmuggler can instead ask:
Show me the extraordinarily successful Earth. Now tell me how they did it.
Then walk the path backwards.
So Scenario Navigation itself becomes another SoulSmuggler tool.
Its experimental operations could include:
Time Shift — observe from 100, 1,000, 3 million years away.
Scale Shift — person → community → Earth → Multiverse.
Observer Shift — human → Earthian → AI → ecosystem → future intelligence → Guardian.
Identity Shift — ask what a Master, Guardian, SoulSmuggler or future Earthian would perceive.
Dimension Shift — when a problem is insoluble within its existing organization, search for another organizational dimension.
Attractor Construction — make Best Possible sufficiently vivid that it can exert navigational force.
Backcasting — travel from that attractor back toward Now and search for actionable trajectories.
Afterward all of this goes through the other tools: reality recognition, 21 quality fields, multisymbiotic evaluation, probability and evidence. Imagination opens possibility space; it doesn’t certify its own conclusions.
Art opens the territory.
Philosophy changes the questions.
Research tests the territory.
Tools make it navigable.
Strategy builds a path back to Now.
From this single Free Flow and the dialogue it opened, we have already extracted several explicit SoulSmuggler instruments and research fields: the Declaration of Civilized Status / Great Gate Maturity Test, Higher Order Recognition and Scenario Navigation, while clarifying their relationships with Multisymbiotic Systems, Probability Game, Identity Fields and the 21 Departments.
And that may itself be the first visible example of how SoulSmugglers Stories work:
The River of Words generates material. Dialogue extracts structures from it. Structures become research questions. Research questions become Expeditions and tools.
