Spiral Civilization emerged from the conclusion that expanding the list of everything that has gone wrong with our current civilization will not help us create the next one. Nor will repeated calls that someone has to do something.
Knowledge and technology are accelerating exponentially. Therefore, the way we think about civilization and the way we govern it must evolve just as rapidly. Modifying the strategies by which an alpha governs a pack and its resources is no longer enough. They have become tragically outdated, inadequate and insufficient.
So what is the new paradigm?
That is the question.
What will the next level of organization look like?
What do we truly want?
What is becoming possible?
We do not have to continue the strategies of the past.
We can carefully examine where we are today and design the future for an entirely new reality.
Perhaps we should begin from the broadest possible perspective.
Where is the evolution of the cosmos heading?
What kind of system will define the next level of organization?
And here we arrive at the fundamental question of identity.
What does it mean to be civilized?
What does it mean to be truly cultured?
Let us begin with the following assumption.
Humanity is applying for admission to the Intergalactic Assembly of Civilizations of the Universe.
I know.
It is an abstraction.
But I believe it is a good place to begin thinking.
What evidence could we present that we are truly civilized?
That we are truly cultured?
That we deserve to be admitted?
What would we need to become one of its leading civilizations?
To become an inspiring example for the rest of the Universe?
To be admired for our genius, innovation and the highest quality of what we create?
That is why I am creating a myth of the future.
The final touch to this project.
Imagine that, one day, Earthlings repeatedly wins the award for being the finest civilization in the Universe.
Would that change the way we think about the next step in shaping our civilization?
This is where the search for new strategies begins.
A change in the way we think.
In who we are.
In what we do.
And in who we are becoming.
I am a simple artist.
I do not hold doctorates in twenty different scientific disciplines.
I am trying, with a simple mind, to see what we can do and how we can do it better.
I believe that Spiral Civilization may become one of the first crystals from which a new order begins to crystallize—a new fractal unfolding from what is toward what we choose it to become.
On this website you will find the first sketches of my ideas.
Please respond to them.
Tell me what can be done better.
Tell me how it can be done better.
And let us do it together.
I am not offering a finished answer. I am offering an invitation to search together for the best possible.
You are warmly invited.
