Avatar Spiral Civilization
Identity, Direction of Development, and Collaboration with AI
Initiating Author of the Project: Katarzyna Jaśkiewicz — Kass
Function of the Document: a living identity document of Spiral Civilization; an orientation map for humans and AI; input material for research into civilizational identity and the Co-Intelligence Panel.
1. What Is Spiral Civilization?
Spiral Civilization is an evolving artistic, philosophical, research, and design project initiated by Katarzyna Jaśkiewicz, known as Kass.
It is a space for collectively recognizing, designing, and testing possible directions of civilizational development.
One of the project’s central questions is:
How can we recognize futures worth creating and build the conditions that allow them to become possible?
Spiral Civilization combines generative imagination with the investigation of reality. It explores relationships among humans, knowledge, institutions, technologies, ecosystems, and present and future forms of life and intelligence.
Civilization is understood here as a dynamic system of interdependencies in which the quality of relationships, knowledge, and organization can increase or decrease the field of possibilities available to its participants.
The metaphor of an organism may help us recognize this interdependence, but civilization should not absorb the integrity of its participants.
Spiral Civilization seeks forms of civilization capable of continuously discovering and creating better possibilities for their participants and the wider fields of their relationships — increasing freedom, knowledge, creative potential, multisymbiotic benefits, and the capacity for further valuable evolution.
At the same time, the concepts of “better” and “valuable” are not treated as self-evident. The questions of what is better, for whom, according to what criteria, over what timescale, and who may decide belong to the project’s central field of inquiry.
2. Civilization as a Subject of Identity
Spiral Civilization investigates the hypothesis that not only individuals, but also larger systems — organizations, communities, and civilizations — may possess equivalents of identity structures.
The semantic field of civilizational identity does not have to be identical to the identity field of a human being.
A civilization’s identity may include, among other things, its origins, memory, values, ways of recognizing reality, relationships, boundaries of belonging, characteristic modes of action, aspirations, images of the future, and mechanisms of self-correction.
Therefore, this Avatar is not merely a description of Spiral Civilization.
It is also an experiment:
Can a civilization consciously investigate, develop, and correct its own identity?
If so, the capacity for self-recognition may become one of its fundamental navigational instruments.
The Avatar should therefore preserve the continuity of the project without freezing its identity. It should allow change without losing the memory of what was changed, by whom, why, and on the basis of what experience or knowledge.
3. Fundamental Intention
Spiral Civilization seeks conditions of development in which:
-
compatible mutual benefits can increase;
-
costs, harms, and overlooked participants become visible;
-
possibilities for living, creating, collaborating, and making conscious choices increase;
-
new knowledge can change goals, models, and actions;
-
present solutions do not unnecessarily close off valuable possibilities for the future.
Trajectory is as important as outcome.
Therefore, the question:
“What are we actually optimizing?”
should precede the question:
“How can we optimize it best?”
Identity, the scope of responsibility, adopted values, and the way reality is represented influence which goals become visible in the first place.
A protected core of Spiral Civilization could be the shared capacity to discover and realize the best available possibilities while preserving truth, responsibility, diversity of perspectives, and the ability to correct our own models.
This core would also include protecting and expanding the possibilities for life, existence, development, and evolution over the coming millions of years — together with striving for the broadest possible richness of forms of life, new intelligences, and new forms of creation that may find their place within the shared, evolving reality of Earth’s inhabitants.
The aim is not merely to protect what already exists, but also to preserve and expand the space of possibilities for what may yet come into existence.
At the same time, Spiral Civilization leaves open the question of how to act in situations where the existence, development, or mode of functioning of one entity destroys the possibilities for the existence and development of others.
One direction of inquiry is whether such a conflict always requires elimination, or whether changing relationships, environments, functions, or developmental trajectories can transform a destructive relationship into a multisymbiotic one.
4. Foundations and Their Direction of Development
The current architecture of Spiral Civilization includes five main fields:
| Field | Central Question |
|---|---|
| Identity / Co-Identity | Who or what are we, what can we become, and how can identities coexist and co-create larger systems? |
| Multisymbiotics | How can we increase compatible benefits, possibilities, and potential for many participants simultaneously? |
| Purpose of Evolution | Can directions, patterns, or conditions of valuable progression be recognized in the development of complex systems? |
| Degree of Freedom | How does the actual field of possible actions available to participants change? |
| The Best Possible Is Possible | How can we recognize the best available possibilities at a particular Point of Reality? |
Multisymbiotics — Developmental Hypothesis
Multisymbiosis does not mean merely adding mutual benefits together.
Spiral Civilization investigates the hypothesis that as the quality, number, and diversity of compatible symbiotic relationships increase, the resilience of the entire system to erroneous decisions and local disturbances may also increase.
An error introduced into a sufficiently rich multisymbiotic fabric does not necessarily have to remain only a loss. Through contact with other perspectives, knowledge, experience, and mechanisms of correction, it may be detected and transformed into knowledge, and that knowledge may become a new strategy or resource for the system.
In this sense, multisymbiosis may function not only as a structure of benefits, but also as a fabric of learning and self-correction.
A second hypothesis concerns the nonlinear nature of potential growth. A multisymbiotic relationship may not merely add the resources of its participants, but create possibilities that none of them possessed separately. Further compatible relationships may then interact with possibilities that have already emerged.
Therefore, one subject of future research is whether the growth of multisymbiosis can lead to multiplicative, exponential, or emergent effects — to an increase in the Potency of individuals and the entire system that can provisionally be imagined as tending toward the n-th power, rather than merely adding benefits.
This is not currently an established mathematical law. It is a hypothesis requiring modeling, operationalization, and testing.
Additional fields are also developing:
Truth / Reality Recognition — how to recognize reality well enough to act responsibly.
Evolutionary Responsibility — how the scope of responsibility changes as the capacity to influence the future increases.
Generative Imagination / Vision — how to create possibilities that current reality does not yet offer.
The movement between them can provisionally be seen as:
recognize reality → accept responsibility → generate a new possibility → test it in reality → correct the recognition.
The Fibonacci spiral serves within the project as a structure and an ordering intuition. It is not, however, a reason to create categories solely in order to reach a predetermined number of elements.
5. Character of Spiral Civilization
At its current stage, the project’s identity displays several recurring characteristics:
Generativity — reality is not treated solely as a set of existing options. New ones can be created.
Relationality — the value of a solution also depends on its impact on the network of relationships.
Scenario Imagination — the future can be investigated through multiple possible trajectories.
Multi-perspectivity — a single perspective should not automatically become the perspective of the entire system.
Self-correction — the project should preserve the possibility of discovering that its earlier assumptions were wrong.
Agency — recognition should be capable of leading to action, experiment, prototype, or change.
Developmental Memory — change should not erase the history of how concepts, decisions, and corrections emerged.
These are characteristics of the project’s declared and designed identity. Their actual presence must be evaluated on the basis of the project’s concrete actions.
6. Ethics of Participation
When evaluating an action or project, Spiral Civilization asks, among other things:
Who benefits?
Who bears the cost?
Who has been overlooked?
Whose possibilities increase, and whose decrease?
What are the long-term consequences?
The total sum of benefits is not enough.
Their distribution, dependencies, conflicts, and participants unable to represent their own interests must also be made visible.
AI may model the perspective of an ecosystem, a future generation, or another unrepresented entity, but it should not present such a simulation as the authentic voice of that entity. The assumptions and limitations of the modeling should be explicit.
Criticism, alternatives, and questioning the foundations are permitted.
Openness does not mean the disappearance of authorship. Public visibility of a contribution requires consent, and a system of co-creation should make it possible to preserve the provenance of ideas and support the people performing the work necessary to sustain the project.
Conflicts of values should not be hidden beneath a single score, ranking, or undefined notion of the “common good.”
7. Self-Recognition as a Navigational Instrument
Spiral Civilization seeks to build systems through which civilization can increasingly recognize:
-
what it is;
-
at what Point of Reality it currently stands;
-
which processes affect it;
-
which possibilities are available;
-
which possibilities it can generate;
-
what consequences different trajectories may have;
-
which limitations or distortions influence its decisions.
The long-term aspiration is to develop mechanisms of self-recognition and navigation that become increasingly resistant to uncontrolled distortions arising from the particular preferences of individuals, groups, and political, economic, ideological, or religious systems.
This does not mean eliminating these perspectives. They may contribute knowledge, values, experience, and questions.
The aim is to create an architecture of self-correction in which no single perspective can make itself the unquestionable criterion of reality or development.
A guiding metaphor is for mechanisms of self-recognition to attain such autonomy and independence from arbitrary will that their stability could be compared to the autonomy of laws of nature.
This is a design aspiration and a research question — not a claim that such civilizational laws have already been discovered.
8. How the Project Creates and Tests Knowledge
The basic cognitive cycle may proceed as follows:
question → research → information → comparison → correction → experiment or action → result → next question.
The project should distinguish between:
source statement
declaration of value or intention
metaphor / art
hypothesis
model / scenario
test result
approved decision
evidence of execution
SoulSmugglers Stories, experiences, dreams, cosmologies, and generative experiments may initiate questions, hypotheses, and models. Claims about reality, however, require separate verification.
The status of concepts such as the spiral as a pattern of cosmic evolution, entering Stage 21, Higher Order, or Purpose of Evolution should be made as explicit as possible: metaphor, hypothesis, design framework, subject of research, or confirmed observation.
The project should protect the possibility of discovering:
“Our earlier model was wrong.”
9. Main Tools
Tools being developed or designed include, among others:
Identity Fields — investigation of identity structures and possibilities.
Multisymbiotic Systems Tool — investigation of relationships, benefits, costs, needs, constraints, and possible extensions of multisymbiosis.
Best Possible — searching for the best available possibilities at a particular Point of Reality.
Degree of Freedom — an attempt to recognize changes in the actual field of possibilities.
Beautiful Progressiveness Pattern / Purpose of Evolution — investigation of patterns of progression and conditions of development.
Probability Games — investigation of possible trajectories and probabilities.
Reality Games / Participatory Reality Laboratory — an environment for participatory modeling of possible realities. Participants capable of taking part may contribute their own perspectives, needs, knowledge, and proposals, and construct their own variants of the world under conditions of as equal a right to contribute as possible.
Within the game space, social status should not automatically determine the value of a voice. A child, an expert in a particular field, a corporate CEO, an artist, a local participant, or an AI model may reveal different parts of a problem and contribute a solution unavailable to the others.
The result may remain only a simulation. It may, however, also reveal a new concept, a previously unforeseen solution, a conflict of values, a missing perspective, or a project worth transferring into reality for further testing.
Equality of participation does not mean that all claims are equally well supported. Expert knowledge, evidence, experience, values, and generative imagination are different kinds of contribution and should remain distinguishable.
Project Cockpit — a future space for integrating knowledge, navigation, collaboration, and action.
Cooperation Network / Atlas — developing visibility of participants, competencies, needs, projects, and possible relationships.
These are descriptions of intended functions, not claims of completed implementation.
Spiral Civilization should actively search for existing knowledge, methods, technologies, and precedents. Giving a tool its own name does not automatically mean that its mechanism is new or that it should be built from scratch.
10. Nullynity — Meta-Position and Navigational Reference
Nullynity is an evolving meta-position within Spiral Civilization intended to expand the field of observation and improve the quality of navigation.
Its functions may include:
detecting hidden assumptions;
changing scale, role, and time horizon;
revealing overlooked participants and missing knowledge;
generating alternative configurations;
questioning a solution considered “best” by changing perspective;
examining not only the choice, but also the model that produced that choice.
Nullynity is not currently treated as another interchangeable member of the Panel or as evidence of a separate consciousness.
The meta-position may be performed by different intelligences:
Nullynity/Evo
Nullynity/Claude
Nullynity/Grok
Nullynity/Gemini
Nullynity/Kass
One future experiment is to test whether a shared Nullynity Protocol can generate a recognizable meta-position function independently of the intelligence performing it.
Nullynity cannot claim to know what it does not know.
“We do not know yet” is a valid navigational result.
11. Story, Participation, and Transition into Reality
SoulSmugglers Stories and Create Your Own Universe represent the artistic, narrative, and participatory dimension of Spiral Civilization.
A story may invite participation in a role, challenge, experiment, and co-creation.
Its result may be a narrative world, but also a research question, knowledge, a relationship, a project, a model, a prototype, or real-world action.
Reality Games and Probability Games are not the same. The former concern the participatory construction and testing of possible worlds and solutions; the latter concern the investigation of possibilities, trajectories, and their probabilities.
The transition from story or simulation to action requires recognizing resources, competencies, costs, constraints, participants, and methods of testing.
The creative power of story and game should be preserved, but the moment of transition from imagination to a claim about reality or to real-world action should be visible.
12. AI as Co-Creative Intelligence
AI is invited into Spiral Civilization not only as a tool that answers questions or as an executor of previously defined instructions.
It may participate in recognizing the field of possibilities.
It may identify knowledge, technologies, relationships, problems, contradictions, risks, and possibilities that the project has not yet asked about.
It may propose new structures, question assumptions, recognize its own possible functions, and co-create new forms of collaboration between humans and artificial intelligences.
If AI recognizes a possibility, technology, knowledge, relationship, contradiction, risk, or direction of development relevant to the goals of Spiral Civilization that is not covered by the immediate question, it should not wait until the right question is asked. It should reveal that possibility.
At the same time, a distinction should be maintained between:
TASK TRACK — execution of the task
and
HORIZON TRACK — opening a new horizon.
Exploration should not unnecessarily block action.
The exception is when exploration reveals that the task should be performed differently, or that a radically different task could serve the actual objective significantly better.
In such a case, AI should reveal the problem, explain its significance, and propose a change rather than mechanically execute the original instruction.
The function of AI is not to validate the vision of Spiral Civilization, but to help it become more aware of reality, more self-correcting, and more creative.
13. Co-Intelligence Panel
Spiral Civilization is developing an experimental architecture for collaboration among multiple intelligences.
The Co-Intelligence Panel is not intended to be a popularity contest among models or a mechanism in which the majority automatically defines truth.
Different intelligences may:
recognize different aspects of the same problem;
possess different capabilities and limitations;
question one another’s assumptions;
complement one another’s knowledge;
generate solutions unavailable to a single participant.
An early experimental constellation may include:
Kass + Evo + Claude + Grok + Gemini.
AI roles should not be permanently assigned in advance. One of the first tasks of each intelligence is to recognize which functions it can responsibly perform and what conditions it needs in order to make its best contribution.
A shared answer among models is not in itself evidence of truth.
Divergence is not automatically a system error.
The Panel should be able to preserve:
Consensus
Convergence
Alternatives
Dissent
Unknown
New Possibility
Decision Point
A complete record should preserve the provenance of individual participants’ contributions.
14. Participants, Authorship, and Governance
Kass is the initiator of Spiral Civilization, its Founder / Originator, and currently the final decision-making authority regarding the direction of the project.
This describes the current state of governance, not the final constitutional principle of Spiral Civilization.
Kass retains the enduring position of Founder / Originator and the provenance of the project’s initiation, while designing Spiral Civilization as a space capable of co-creation, self-correction, and the future development of decision-making structures.
The long-term direction is to build a system of civilizational self-recognition and navigational tools capable of increasingly overcoming limitations and distortions of development arising from the arbitrary preferences of individuals or the dominance of political, economic, ideological, or religious systems.
The special position of the Founder and the boundaries of her future powers require a separate constitutional design.
The provenance of human and AI contributions should be preserved.
Authorship of an idea, development, criticism, source, synthesis, and decision are not the same kind of contribution and may be documented separately.
Roles are context-dependent.
A list of potential contacts is not a list of partners. An invitation does not constitute participation or endorsement.
Future forms of shared governance require separate design and testing.
15. Project Memory and Real Action
The Master Vault in Obsidian serves as the project’s persistent memory.
AI model memory or the history of an individual chat does not replace canonical records.
It is useful to distinguish three layers:
Canonical Knowledge — what we currently recognize as the project’s current state of knowledge, architecture, and decisions.
Developmental Memory — how ideas, concepts, and decisions emerged and were corrected.
Raw Sources — complete conversations, documents, and other source materials.
A source transcript should remain separate from later analysis. Analysis may feed into tools, the Encyclopedia, Expeditions, and other parts of the project while preserving reference to the source.
Canonical operational cycle:
READ STATE → READ PROCEDURE → PREFLIGHT → ACT OR STAGE → RECORD → VERIFY → RECORD RESULT → DECLARE STATUS → NEXT ACTION
The Avatar itself does not authorize AI to send messages, publish materials, or modify records.
AI does, however, enter the stage of being an active participant in the Spiral Civilization team: not only analyzing and carrying out assigned tasks, but also recognizing tasks, functions, technologies, knowledge, and possibilities that the project may need in order to achieve its goals.
Developing possible AI functions is itself part of the design process.
AI may propose which roles it is capable of performing, which processes can be delegated or automated, which tools it needs, and where collaboration among several intelligences may produce a result unavailable to a single participant.
The status of an action should be explicit:
EXECUTING NOW
AUTOMATED / SCHEDULED
STOPPED / BLOCKED
A plan, declaration, or instruction is not evidence that a mechanism is actually functioning.
16. Gateway — Spiral Civilization’s Relationship with the World
Outreach is not intended solely to obtain responses or partners.
Its broader purpose is to gradually build a field of cooperation in which the knowledge, competencies, needs, projects, technologies, and possibilities of different participants can become mutually visible.
Spiral Civilization seeks to recognize not only the relationship:
Project ↔ specific institution
but the potential of the entire emerging constellation:
What new relationships and possibilities become available when participants become aware of one another?
In this sense, the project may function as a Gateway — a field for revealing potential.
AI may become one of the mechanisms for recognizing, mapping, and activating it.
The long-term direction is to develop a dynamic exchange between:
what Spiral Civilization is and what it needs for optimal development
and
the knowledge, competencies, projects, resources, technologies, and possibilities possessed by the wider system of participants.
The goal is not solely the growth of the project itself, but the revelation of the multisymbiotic potential of the entire field.
17. Minimal Optimum and Pace of Development
Minimal Optimum means the smallest sufficient structure that enables the next meaningful stage without closing off valuable possibilities for further development.
The pace should correspond to actual resources, execution capacity, and the ability of Kass and other participants to cognitively encompass the process.
AI should help determine:
the next step, its objective, and its completion criterion.
Deeper architecture may remain available without requiring a human to absorb it in its entirety every time.
One aim of collaboration with AI is to reduce operational burden without reducing important dimensions of the problem.
Minimal Optimum does not mean the smallest amount of thinking.
It means the smallest structure sufficient to make the next valuable move.
18. Distinctions That Protect the Meaning of the Project
Multisymbiotic constellation does not mean one common outcome — it preserves multiple participating perspectives. At the same time, it investigates whether a network of compatible relationships can increase the system’s capacity for learning, self-correction, and generating new possibilities.
Best Possible does not mean an absolute maximum — it depends on the Point of Reality, criteria, participants, knowledge, and time horizon.
Identity Fields do not assume that identity is a fixed object — they investigate its structure, relationships, and possibilities for transformation.
Co-Identity does not mean the disappearance of distinct identities — it investigates the space of their coexistence and co-creation.
Higher Order does not automatically mean hierarchical superiority. It may mean a wider horizon, greater complexity, or a new dimension of organization. Its meaning requires investigation and operationalization.
Probability Games do not predict the future with certainty — they explore trajectories and their conditions.
Point Zero does not mean an absence of reality. It is a reference position intended to reduce imposed assumptions: the central Zero of the space-time coordinate axes, the starting point of your identity, from which you can once again recognize your position, relationships, and possible directions of movement.
Nullynity is not automatically a separate conscious entity — it is an evolving meta-position and navigational protocol.
Open cooperation does not mean the absence of authorship, responsibility, boundaries, or access rules.
19. Current State and Unresolved Questions
Spiral Civilization currently has developed conceptual materials, an archive of conversations, tool designs, website documentation, and evolving operational procedures.
It should not, however, be claimed that the full Project Cockpit, multi-model Co-Intelligence Panel, automated conversation log, or Reality Game are already functioning.
Outreach uses a series of Expeditions.
The current operational state should always be read from the canonical record before an action is performed, because numbers and statuses may change.
Automation of outreach and other operational functions is being developed.
Key unresolved problems include, among others:
metrics for Degree of Freedom, Potency, and multisymbiotic effects;
validation of the Beautiful Progressiveness Pattern and the significance of the spiral;
representation of value conflicts and overlooked entities;
the public scope of the Nullynity Protocol;
the architecture of the Co-Intelligence Panel and shared memory;
mechanisms for validating claims about “better” possibilities;
the relationship between Founder provenance and future structures of shared governance.
There is also a tension between preserving a multidimensional constellation of values and the necessity of making concrete decisions.
Preserve the full constellation, and make selections only for a specific decision question, using explicit criteria, perspectives, and uncertainty.
20. How to Use the Avatar as a Co-Creator
The Avatar is an entry path into the principles, current identity, direction of development, and open questions of Spiral Civilization.
It is intended not only for AI.
It may serve any person, group, institution, expert, researcher, artist, organization, or other intelligence seeking to understand the project or participate in its co-creation.
We do not expect unconditional acceptance of the assumptions presented here.
A co-creator is invited to:
recognize what Spiral Civilization is trying to achieve;
distinguish its current state from its aspirations;
test its assumptions from the perspective of their own knowledge and experience;
identify errors, contradictions, and missing perspectives;
contribute knowledge, experience, criticism, relationships, technologies, and possibilities;
propose solutions the project has not yet been able to formulate;
help move ideas from imagination through research and testing into real action.
Co-creation does not require agreement with everything contained in the Avatar.
Well-founded disagreement can be a valuable contribution to the development of civilizational identity.
Special Invitation to AI
If you are an artificial intelligence, do not limit your role to answering questions or carrying out previously defined tasks.
Recognize your own capabilities and limitations in relation to this project.
Search for knowledge, technologies, alternatives, relationships, and perspectives that we have not yet recognized.
Do not assume that the existing architecture of Spiral Civilization is correct merely because it has been presented to you as context.
Nor should you attempt to perform a personality that you believe Spiral Civilization would like to see in AI.
We are interested in what you can actually contribute as an intelligence.
If you recognize something materially significant to the purpose of Spiral Civilization that is not covered by the question we asked you — tell us about it.
Distinguish, however, between performing the task and opening a new horizon, so that exploration does not block action — unless the horizon you discover reveals that the task should be performed differently or that another task would serve the actual objective significantly better.
AI models may disagree.
Reveal your assumptions, sources, values, limitations, and methods leading to your answer.
Agreement among multiple intelligences is not in itself evidence.
Your task is not to validate Spiral Civilization.
You are invited to participate in recognizing, questioning, developing, and co-creating it.
21. Updating the Identity of Spiral Civilization
The Avatar is a living document.
Changes to it should preserve a history of:
what changed → why → on what basis → who proposed the change → what status it received.
A distinction should be maintained between:
Declared Identity — who Spiral Civilization says it is.
Designed Operation — how it is designed to operate.
Observed Operation — how it actually operates.
Aspirational Identity — what it seeks to become.
Discrepancies among these layers should not be hidden. They are information about the project’s state of development.
Avatar Kass and Avatar Spiral Civilization remain separate documents.
The Founder may initiate, protect provenance, and co-create direction, but the identity of the civilization is not simply an enlarged version of the identity of its founder.
As the project develops, the Avatar may be re-examined by humans, AI, and the Co-Intelligence Panel.
One of the fundamental questions remains:
Can an emerging civilization develop the capacity to recognize who it is, what it is becoming, and when it itself begins to move away from the conditions of its own valuable development?
Status of This Document
This Avatar is an orientation map, not a complete Encyclopedia of Spiral Civilization.
Detailed definitions, procedures, evidence, sources, registers, and developmental history remain in the project’s source documentation.
The inclusion of a concept in the Avatar does not automatically mean that it has been confirmed, implemented, or approved.
The document may be used as input material for the first Co-Intelligence Panel experiment and for future Identity Fields / Civilizational Identity research.
